Our New Home

IMG_0952

Finally…here are some pictures from our new home. We had a lot of fun picking out colors and being creative (after years of living in white-walled apartments). The living room is painted a pale yellow/cream color called Havana Cream, and decorated with art and pictures from our travels to Haiti and Mexico. The colors of the walls get darker and more textured as you travel through the dining room and into the kitchen.

We had so much help from our church with painting and moving. At the time, we were very new to the church, and we felt so welcomed into the community. What a great way to make friends – thank you everyone!

I’m going to branch out and start sharing about things other than midwifery. So, check back soon…we have some exciting news coming up!

Bethany, I found your site through Shawnda's blog. First of all, congratulations on your new home! It sounds beautiful. Secondly, I just wanted to respond to your earlier post about being a NICU nurse ... two of my three children (God's blessings through adoption) spent time in the NICU and I truly believe it takes a very special person to do such an important, tender job. I appreciate the nurses who cared for my babies so much! God bless! -Stephanie

I found your blog through Stephanie's blog (the comment above) and I had to make a comment similar to hers. Our first daughter was in the NICU for a couple weeks and the nurses (at least most of them) were so wonderful. We were away from home, across the country, new parents to our precious baby through adoption who was so tiny, and the nurses cared for us as much as they did for her. It made our whole experience wonderful. Then with our second daughter, she was only in the newborn nursery for a couple days, but the nurses were not as nice. I won't go into details - but I felt they were so adoption unfriendly - but maybe they were really like this to all the parents. It made us appreciate the first nurses we had and realize that it definitely is a gift to care for those precious babies and to help the parents as well.

Oh and I just looked at your "About You" and noticed you had worked in Southern California - that's where our first (Isabella) was born. She was born near L.A.
